He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcus Kennedy Houston and Beatrice White Houston; his former wife Thelma Christianson Houston; his wife Elizabeth Daves Tyus; his daughter Laurie Ann Houston; his siblings, Mary Emily Houston, Cenora Houston Thacker, Julia Catherine Condra, A. C. Houston and George Houston; and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Houston, Peggy Houston, Gene Thacker, Robert Condra and James Condra.

He is survived by: his son John Houston; his grandchildren, Carrie Houston, Kaylee Panes and Andrew Houston; and his sister Laura Condra. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Ivy Creek United Methodist Church, Autaugaville, Alabama 36003, in honor of Marcus's life and legacy.
