William Pope Swift III Obituary
In loving memory of William Pope Swift III of Selma, Alabama, who departed this world on May 31, 2025 at the age of 75. William Pope leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelia Morrissette Swift and William Pope Swift Jr.; his parents-in-law, Ruth Sammon Maxwell and Eugene Knox Maxwell; and his nephew John Furniss Maxwell.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Maxwell Swift; his children, Ruth Swift Newberry (Scott) and William Pope Swift, IV (Bridges); his granddaughters, Grace Ann Swift and Elizabeth Lea Swift; his sister Frieda Swift Murfee; and his siblings-in-law, Charles Eugene Maxwell (Emory) and Diane Maxwell Richardson (Jim). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church (Formerly First Presbyterian Church) (301 Broad St, Selma, AL 36701). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
