It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melba Grace Smith of Slocomb, Alabama, born in Geneva, Alabama, who passed away on April 14, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parent Elvie May Kirkland Lassiter; her siblings, Estelle Sawyer, Lewis Lassiter, Sybil Holton, Sheila Mitchell, Larry Lassiter and Rex Lassiter; and her son-in-law Johnny K. Cumbie.

She is survived by : her husband James A. Smith; her daughters, Laura Crawford (Kyle) and Leah Cumbie; her grandchildren, Kara Ezell (Drew), Radney Crawford (Carolyn), Hannah Crosby and Haley Crosby; her great grandchildren, Evie Ezell, Emma Crawford, Elijah Crawford, Lilah Crawford and Ethan Ezell; her siblings, Lounell Baxley, Debra Fowler, Pete Lassiter and Ricky Lassiter; her siblings-in-law, Gail Lassiter, Diana Lassiter and Lamar Holton; and her close friend Ruby Hagler. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 16th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church (2075 County Rd 9, Slocomb, AL 36375).

Flowers will be accepted or contributions in Mrs. Smith's memory may be made to Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 2075 County Road 9, Slocomb, AL 36375.
