He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harvey Dempsey, Sr. and Gladys Catherine Hitz; his brothers, Barry and Richard Dempsey; and his stepson Kevin Reed Kline.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Ellen Rotellini Dempsey; his children, Beth Ann Dempsey (Dave Lasnick) and Scott Allen Dempsey; his sister-in-law Charlotte Dempsey; his stepchildren, Sherry Ann Taylor (Chris), Brian Joseph Marazzi (Susan), Kevin Alfred Marazzi (Leslie Lovvorn) and Stacy Lynn Leady (Donald); his grandchildren, Rachael and Ryan Lasnick; his stepgrandchildren, Ashley Ann Stacharowski (Tom), Kayley Marie Taylor Myers (Blake), Joey Iovanisci, Evan Iovanisci, Jason Marazzi (Samantha), Tim Marazzi, Benjamin Joseph Marazzi, Abbigail Grace Marazzi, Amy Kline, Zachary Kline (Jessica), Jaryd Leady and Kodi Leady; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Kaileigh, Alexander, Ayla, Adler, Ario, Aleena Grace and Leilani.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's memory to the Union Hill Baptist Church's Vision Fund. Donations can be mailed to the church at 2919 County Hwy 39, Oneonta, AL 35121.
