He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles B. Slaten and Kathryn Turner Slaten; his children, Sheri Tilley (Patrick) of Hartselle and Michael Slaten (Kristen) of Somerville; his grandchildren, Tyler Berry (Ana) of Hartselle, Heather Tilley Lewis (Caleb) of Perkinston, Logan Tilley (Rachael) of Huntsville and Carson Levario-Slaten; and his great grandchildren, Shiloh, Abram Lewis and Collins Tilley.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to Save a Life Pregnancy Center (801 Bradley St SW, Decatur, AL 35601), an organization that Don supported financially for several years.
