He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Barnes and Dollie Barnes; his wife Margaret Barnes; his siblings, Charlie Barnes, Earl Barnes, Bill Barnes, Calvin Barnes, Louie Jester, Lela Byars, Imogene Perk, Geraldine Payne and June Bishop; and his nephew David "Rover" Walker.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy Hiland (Bryan); his grandchildren, Brooke Battles (Logan), Baylor Richey (Amalia), Kayla Hiland (Lee) and Mason Hiland; his great grandchildren, Blaire Battles and Ellie Hiland; his sisters, Barbara Walker and Betty Whitt; his brother-in-law Ray Ingle; his nephews, Greg Walker (Mary) and Jeff Barnes (Karen); and his grandchildren, Nikki (Kaleb), Graves (Emma Wilkerson), Zach (Gracie), Dalton Walker, Wesley (Maria), Derrick (Linzie), Hunter Barnes and Hannah Barnes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Morgan Funeral Chapel (625 Gilbert Ferry Rd SE, Attalla, AL 35954). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:00 PM at the Steele Cemetery (87-99 Oak St, Steele, AL 35987).
