He was predeceased by: his significant other Judy; his parents, James F. "Busy" Akin and Bertha Lee Ferguson Akin; his siblings, Kenneth Akin, Faye Marie Akin, Shirley Akin Thacker and Jerry Wayne Akin; his brothers-in-law, Wilbert, Butch and Gary; and his great grandchild Brian Andrew Pylant.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Pylant, James "Jimmy Lee" Akin, Jr., Kandall Griffith (Josh) and Randall Akin (Mandy); his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Blake (Keith), Robert Pylant (Megan), Zoe Holder, Katie, Noah Griffith, Alexander (Catalina), Savannah, Skyler, Zada, Taevyn, Kason and Benjamin Akin; his great grandchild Zachary Pylant; and his siblings-in-law, Kay, Mary Joe, Lanora, Valarie, Cheryl, Jenny, Margaret and Mike. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and other family members.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Valley Funeral Home - Stevenson (1214 Kentucky Ave, Stevenson, AL 35772). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
