He was predeceased by: his parents, Mayburn Guess and Grace Guess; his siblings, Wyona Phillips, Calvin and Carl Guess; and his son-in-law Dale Simmons.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Guess; his children, Misty Simmons, Shannon Guess, Andrea Guess and Amber Carson (Justin); his grandchildren, Alyssa Salter (Jake), Clint, Brandon Simmons, Madison Haynes, Bailey Hoosier, Alyvia Masters, Savannah and Kylee Carson; his great grandchildren, Ava Bolton and Lainey Salter; his close friend Joanna Kimbrell; and his siblings, Joyce Johnson (Garin), Ethel McConney (David Simon), Dorothy O'Neal (Eddie) and Ray Guess (Elaine).

Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Valley Funeral Home - Stevenson (1214 Kentucky Ave, Stevenson, AL 35772). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
