He was predeceased by: his parents, Coy I. Thornton and Annie Belle Flynn Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Judy Thornton of Sulligent, AL; his children, Carl Thornton II of Sulligent, AL and Nikki Malensky of Tuscaloosa, AL.; his sister Linda Oliver (Dewayne) of Sulligent, AL.; his close friend Wayne Baines of Millport, AL.; and his grandchildren, Ethan Malensky (Maci) of Washington, DC and Mia Malensky of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Otts Funeral Home (4255 US-278, Sulligent, AL 35586). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at the Wofford Cemetery.
