He is survived by: his wife Christine Shackelford of Sulligent, AL; his children, Rex Shackelford, Jr. (Barbara) of Sulligent, AL and Sharon Shackelford of Sulligent, AL.; his siblings, Eddie Shackelford of Sulligent, AL., Ann Phipps (Ray) of Caledonia, MS and Linda Hughes (Glenn) of Hatley, MS.; his grandchildren, Cheryl Smith (Heath), Stacey Poe (Brian), Cayla Gilbert and April Strawbridge; his great grandchildren, Vanzant Brown, Auburn Kivette, Bentley Kivette, Brenden Brown, Chloe Kivette, Slade Brown, Lexi Rasberry, Braden Kivette, James Clifton, Christopher Smith and Allie Smith; and his grandchildren, Iris Brown and Damien Brown.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 5:00 PM. The lying in state will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church (2802 Wolf Rd, Sulligent, AL 35586). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (816 Co Rd 21, Sulligent, AL 35586).
