He was predeceased by : his parents, John C. McVey Sr. and Louise Strickling McVey; his wife Viola Frances McVey; his granddaughter Terri Jo Brown; and his brother Charles Clifton McVey.
He is survived by : his children, Cindy Lacey (Johnnie) of Ashland, Wendy Prescott (Kenny) of Lake City, FL, John Scottie McVey of Alex City, Rickey McVey of Alex City, Samuel Eugene "Dean" Brown of Talladega and Danny Brown of Ashland; and his brother William McVey (Luvinue) of Wadley. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church. A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
