He was predeceased by : his wife Carolyn Cooper; his parents, John B. Cooper and Eva Cooper; his siblings, Johnny J. Copper (Mary) and Shirley Carr; and his brother-in-law Randy Jones.

He is survived by : his children, Jay Cooper and Rebecca Beard (Jerry); his grandsons, Taylor Gurley (Sarah) and Adam Beard; his great grandchildren, Graham Gurley and Raiden Gurley; and his sister Sandra Cooper Jones. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
