Bobby Sayers Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bobby Sayers (Tallassee, Alabama), who passed away on May 15, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John Will Sayers and Hazel Langley Sayers; his stepmother Claris Sayers; and his siblings, Bernice Stalnaker and Joe Sayers.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Sayers (Harris); his children, Mickey Sayers (Marilyn), Gayle Mason (Herbie), Tammy Grumm and Todd Sayers (Julie); and his brothers, William Earl Sayers and Floyd Carmack. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

“Bobby was a good friend to my father growing up. He also offered to help me join the National Guard in lieu of joining the Army during the Vietnam War period. I received a college student deferment instead. He was also a pillar of our Congregation Christian Church. Bobby lead a vigorous life and was an important member of the Tallassee community as well being a strong family man and friend to many. He lived a good and long life. We are ll better off for having known Bobby during his life..”
