Christopher Shea Hethcox Obituary

Christopher Shea Hethcox, devoted father, son, and businessman, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at the age of 46. He entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior in Atlanta, Georgia.

Shea will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Peggy B. Hethcox and friend, Larry Stephens; Father, Richard E. Hethcox and stepmother, Robin Hethcox; Daughter, Marley and stepson, Jack; Brother, Scott Hethcox; Paternal grandmother, Joyce Cameron Hethcox; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Shea was predeceased in life by his maternal grandparents, Jane and Jim Black and paternal grandfather, Howard Hethcox.

Shea took his family responsibilities to heart. He loved his children and provided for them at all times, traits inspired by. His Maker. He revered his extended family and looked forward to the days when he could visit them in Dadeville and Tallassee. Shea spent his early years traveling the world with his military family having lived in Germany, Alabama, and Georgia. But his home places were in Dadeville and Tallassee where he learned to swim and mastered the art of shooting fireworks at family gatherings on the Fourth of July and Christmas. His many cousins brightened his life at these occasions—and he brightened theirs—his commitment to each one never wavering.

Shea saw the best in people and took them under his wings and into his life fully, as the Spirit led him to do. His loyalty to family and friends was unsurpassed. He was quite an athlete, as well, excelling in football, golf, pickleball, downhill and water skiing, ice and roller skating, and snowboarding. As an adult, Shea developed a passion for nature by hiking the North Georgia mountains where he put his life and body in great mental and physical shape. The competitive spirit in Shea also led him to start his own successful transportation business across the country. Frequent overnighters were in Alabama, a yearning never far from his heart.

Shea's attributes were attracting: His smile was legendary and bigger than Hollywood; This son was considerate and complimentary to others, shunning the spotlight while always elevating others first; This grandson was faithful to his grandparents, calling and visiting often; This cousin never forgot where he came from and this brother knew the root of happiness was peace with family, a contentment he shared at the baby shower of his first child.

Christopher Shea Hethcox…a loved and kind-hearted person…slipped away, lost from a world which will not easily bear his silence.

Family and friends will commence Shea's Celebration of Life with visitation at 1:00 pm and the service at 2:00 pm on September 11, 2023 at Jeffcoat Funeral Home in Tallassee, Alabama. His final home will be nearby in the family setting at Rose Hill Cemetery following the Celebration.
