She was predeceased by: her mother Ann Bea Newson Phillips; and her husband William Floyd Gates. She is survived by: her children, Jerry Gates (Cathy), Dwayne Gates (Donna), Phil Gates (Sharon), Randy Gates (Lynn) and Shirley Gates Bowers. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery (7759 Old Hwy 5 S, Thomasville, AL 36784).
