He was predeceased by : his parents, Herman Martindale and Edith Battle Martindale; his grandparents, James Gustavius Martindale, Fannie Pickle Martindale, James Bourne Battle and Sally Feezor Battle; and his sister Betty Sue Martindale Walden (Cleon).

He is survived by : his wife Roselyn Harrison Martindale; his daughters, Rachael Martindale O'Bar (Rick) of Boise and Rhonda Martindale Rhodes (Scott) of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his grandchildren, Rachael "Alex" Rhodes Parker (Seth) of DeFuniak Springs, Julianna Leigh O'Bar of Pensacola and Jeffrey Mark Rhodes (Sheena); his great grandchildren, Callie Elizabeth Parker of DeFuniak Springs and Cameron Drake Rhodes; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Pamula and Hunter Lobb of Oak Grove, Kentucky.; and also, Salem Baptist of Scyrene, AL, Hobson Baptist of Chatom, AL, Warrington Baptist of Pensacola, FL, Chilton Baptist of Chilton, AL and Dixons Mills of Morvin, AL.
