We announce the death of Jerrie R. Childress Compton of Thorsby, Alabama, who passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 79. Jerrie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Riggins and Rosa Lee Riggins; her son Rip Childress; and her sister Shirley Plier. She is survived by: her grandchildren, Whitney Edwards (Allen) and Brent Childress (Emma); and her great grandchildren, Wren Edwards, Alynna Edwards, Lillie Childress, Ridge Edwards and Tripp Childress.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Thorsby Memorial Cemetery.
