He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Willie Howard and Frances Vanderslice Howard; his sisters, Louise Miller (Herby) and Hazel Smith (Buddy); and his stepson Darryl Plier.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Howard; his daughter Retha Bryant (Paul); his grandsons, Matthew Bryant (Hannah) and Stephen Bryant (Caroline); his great grandchildren, McKenzie Bryant, Isaiah Bryant and Jackson Bryant; and his stepdaughter Debra Hubbard (Joe). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
