He was predeceased by : his parents, William Earlie Gibson and Mary Leona Sellers Gibson of Toxey, Alabama.; his wife Sylvia Juanita Long Gibson; and his brothers, Murray Harlin Gibson Sr. and Winston Wayne Gibson of Toxey, Alabama..

He is survived by : his sons, Matthew Arnold Gibson Sr. (Tracey) of Huntsville and Gregory Alan Gibson (Kristen) of Germantown, Tennessee.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
