Though Mary may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Mary touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clyde Eston Dowies and Violet Fisher Dowies; and her brother Terry Eston Dowies. She is survived by: her husband Cyrus Thomas; her sons, Clyde H. Thomas of Jennings, LA and Kenneth H. Thomas (Pam) of Fort Payne, AL; and her grandson Ian M. Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel (2105 Beltline Rd SW, Decatur, AL 35601). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Fischer Cemetery.
