He was predeceased by : his former life partner Diane Kelley Rainey; his daughter Pamela Rainey; his parents, Herman Rainey and Annie Pearl Rainey; and his stepson Scott Chancellor.

He is survived by : his wife Sylvia Rainey; his children, David Rainey (Jennifer) and Amanda Spears; his stepsons, Al Williamson (Amanda) and Andy Williamson; his grandchildren, Lance Rainey (Kymber), Raegan Rainey, Brandon Chancellor (Savannah) and JoAnne Spears; and his siblings, Runnette Mobley (Jerry), Ronnie Rainey (Mae), Roy Rainey (Mary) and Raiford Rainey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
