He is survived by: his wife Khristine Atwell; his children, Elaine Hegler (Bobo) and Roger Austin Atwell; his stepdaughter Shelley Sanders; his grandchildren, Caleb Hegler (Kaidyn), Amelia Hegler (Chris), Noah Hegler, Breanna Sanders and Axton Sanders; his great grandchild Kingston Sealey; and his siblings, Jimmy Atwell (Barbara), Jewel Flinn, Weston Atwell (Tanya), Shirley Lee (Charles), Charles Atwell (Lisa), Henry Atwell (Peggy) and Wallace Atwell (Carly). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dillard Funeral Home (206 Old Hwy 231 N, Troy, AL 36081). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
