We bid farewell to Darryl Freeman Nelson of Trussville, Alabama, born in Dickson, Tennessee, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on August 5, 2025 at the age of 77. Darryl Freeman touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Clay Nelson and Lucille Patterson Nelson; and his siblings, Doyle Nelson, Glenn Nelson and Hilda Nelson Rowlette.
He is survived by: his wife Gay Dawn Horne-Nelson; and his siblings, Patricia Nelson Seal, Warren Nelson and Dwight Nelson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Deerfoot Memorial Funeral Home (5360 Deerfoot Pkwy, Trussville, AL 35173). A memorial service was held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Crestview Cemetery.
