He was predeceased by: his parent Manly Smith; his wife Scottie; and his siblings, Bob Smith, Leburn Smith, Herman Smith, JT Smith and Eulene Stokes.
He is survived by: his children, Charlotte Smith Bailey, Terry S. Smith (Mary) and Thomas E. Smith (Beth); his grandchildren, Scott Morrison (Rhonda), Martin Smith (Christina) and Anna Smith Whitfield (Whit); and his great grandchildren, Cody Morrison (Lauren), Harrison Smith, Parker Smith, Elizabeth Whitfield, Margaret Whitfield, Haleigh Keen (William) and Josh Bolton.
