He was predeceased by: his parents, David Gilbert Ackerman and Mary Clyde Sylvester; and his son David Ackerman Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Shelby Arlene Ackerman; his children, Jeff Ackerman and Allison Ackerman; his stepsons, Wayne White and Gary White; his siblings, Mike Sylvester, Amanda Smith and Ronda McIndale; and his aunt Carolyn Blankenship. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Community Cemetery (635 Baker Ln, Tuscumbia, AL 35674).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Community/Holland Cemetery Fund.
