He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Aday and Lela Chaney; his siblings, Ronnie Glenn Aday and Nancy Evlynn Pitts Boothe; his cousin Milton Chaney; and his in-laws, Ralph Hawkins and Trilby Bartley Hawkins.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Hawkins Aday; his children, Matthew Aday (Amy Smith Aday) and Jessica Aday Hutto (David Hutto); his grandchildren, Eli Aday, Finn Hutto and Larkin Hutto; and his siblings, Deborah Aday Stark (Ray Stark), Ricky Robinette, Callie Perry and Julie Pitts Simbeck.
