He was predeceased by : his parents, Arnie C. Owens and James Carter; his wife Annie L. Hicks (Christian); his son Ronald Hicks; his grandson Jermain Hicks; and his siblings, Jimmy L. Hicks, J. D. Owens, Jr., Betty Louise Owens, Thelma L. Wilson and Jessie D. Williams.

He is survived by : his children, Shirley Daniels (Michael), Gina Marie Aponte (John) and Walter Tarber; his granddaughters, Teneil Daniels, Coty Daniels and Aaliah DeVico; his sisters, Lilly Holly, Lois Lane, Ethel Adams (Edward), Addie Owens and Dillye Jackson; his caregivers, Myron Christian and Ricardo Newby, Sr.; his nephew Gary Hicks; and his close friends, Richard High and Reginald Freeman.

In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
