He was predeceased by: his parents, H. W. Kitchens and Raye Crawford; his wife Glenda Kitchens of Detroit, AL.; and his brothers, Thaxton Kitchens, Clyde Kitchens and Sonny Kitchens.

He is survived by: his daughters, Marquetta Glasgow (Phillip), Kimberly Holt (Robert) and Kelly Edwards (Jonathan); his siblings, John Paul Kitchens (Barbara) and Kathy Kitchens of Vernon, AL; his grandchildren, Jade Bostick (Blake), Molly Reeves (Ryan) and Robert Chandler Holt; and his great grandchildren, Crawford Bostick and Ivie Bostick.
