It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Gates of Vincent, Alabama, who passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, E. H. Gates and Laura Melton Gates; and his siblings, Earl Gates Jr., J. C. Gates, Howard Gates and Elvie Brown.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Davis Gates; his children, Robbie Greene (Gerald) and Kim Pitman (Michael); his grandchildren, Jud Greene (Jessica), Katie Grimes (Chad), Zach Earnest (Ashley), Daniel Earnest (Kathleen) and Jacob Pitman (Chloe); and his great grandchildren, Wyatt Greene, Macy Greene, Jordan Falany, Addie Earnest, Henry Earnest, Noah Earnest and Charlie Pitman.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Arkwright Baptist Church Cemetery.
