She was predeceased by: her husband Joel Nix; her parents, Audie Lynn and Willard Thomas; her grandparents, William Luther, Dovie Wideman, Annie Thomas Pearson and Luther Roy Thomas; her grandson David Allen Carter II; and her brother-in-law Jerry Griffith.

She is survived by: her children, Sarah Carter (David), Victoria Beck (Dell), Tina Finch and Billy Wade; her stepson Bobby Bell (Robyn); and her sisters, Virginia Griffith and Jenise German (Claudie). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
