With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gail Hightower in Wedowee, Alabama, born in Atlanta, Georgia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 13, 2024 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Dennis Hightower; and her parents, Mark Wellborn and Goldie Wellborn. She is survived by: her son David Hightower (Anita); her grandchildren, Andrew Hightower and Elizabeth; her sister Ann Kerlin; her niece Denise Chandler; her nephew Mark Ivey; and her caregivers, Dawn Oswalt, Kim Akins, Debra Siggers, Kim Huey and Janet Grogan.

“Dear Ann & Family, It's hard to miss Gail's presence on earth, especially for you. I still feel her caring and wit. I also treasure a memory of her in 1st grade North Clayton school near College Park, and affection through 2nd grade as we both walked home from the new school close to our houses. Then my family moved, I did not see her again until 9th grade when y'all came to Fairburn area. Anytime you want to talk I would love your stories. I love you too, Larry”

We met at first grade reading table in Clayton County Georgia, my first ever crush. We attended high school in Fairburn GA. With high intelligence, exuberance, wit, & beauty she had a unique charm indelible in memory. Sadly she lost her Dennis a few years ago. A happy perfect couple. We all met in Orlando as our careers crossed paths.. Thankful for her time on earth. May God bless.”
