He was predeceased by: his children, Betty Emfinger and William Shelby Richardson; and his granddaughter Abigail Herring. He is survived by: his wife Frances Maynard; his children, Paula Sherrill, Donna Herring (Johnny) and Jason Maynard; his grandchildren, Thomas Willard (TJ), Megan Romano, Jeremy Bunker, Matthew Sherrill, Chris Sherrill, J. Hunter Herring, A. Joshua Herring, S. Amelia Herring, J. Peyton Herring, Lucinda Maynard, William "Galen" Richardson, Emily Johnson and Andrew Emfinger; and his sibling's children, Ed Maynard, Bill Maynard and Melissa Booth. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
