He was predeceased by: his parents, James Crave and Mary Magdalene Cotton Channell; his grandson Bryan Allan Garza; his great grandchild Stephen Andreu Ray; and his siblings, Lonnie, Hubert, James Channell, Flora Randolph and Rachel Norris.

He is survived by: his children, Billy Channell, Roger Channell (Joann), Frankie Channell (Amanda) and Norma Hill (Tim); and his sister Fran Burks. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel (981 AL-253, Winfield, AL 35594). The lying in state was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at the West Alabama Memorial Gardens (3955 US-43, Guin, AL 35563).
