He was predeceased by: his parents, Alves Burleson and Lula Era Smith Burleson; his wife Jeanette McCaleb Burleson; his daughter Diana Sue Burleson; his siblings, Wendall Burleson, Ruth Kendrick and Mary Ann Harrod; and his siblings-in-law, Clarence Harrod, Herchel Kendrick and Joyce Ann McCaleb.

He is survived by: his son David Alan "Burlu" Burleson; his grandchildren, Kacie Coats (Josh), Kayla Rush (Brock) and Cody Dodd (Caroline); and his great grandchildren, Karlee, Blade Coats, Chloe Brown, Baylor, Lawson, Diana Grey Rush, Eloise and Beckham Dodd. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great family and friends.
