In the vast expanse of eternity, John shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid John farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ermil Grant and Rose Grant (Turner); his son Richard Grant; and his siblings, Nona Fay Vaughn (Leon) and Joe Don Grant.

He is survived by: his wife Etta Grant (Leavell); his children, Greg Grant (Lisa) of Alma, Arkansas and Jonna Barton (Lance) of Greenwood, Arkansas; and his sister-in-law Joyce Helton (Marion). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ocker Funeral Home of Alma Address (917 US-64, Alma, AR 72921). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Alma Performing Arts Center (103 E Main St, Alma, AR 72921).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alma Boys and Girls Club or the Alma First Baptist Church Building Fund.
