She is survived by: her children, Charles M. Newborn II and Jennifer Newborn Thomas (Brian); her grandchildren, Lydia Thomas, Emory Thomas and Joi Thomas; her sisters-in-law, Gilda Bataan of Chicago, Illinois. and Mae Katherine Hendrix of Chicago, Illinois.; and her goddaughter Karen Davis Randolf. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and dear friends.
She was a supportive member of the Peake Alumni Foundation, Inc. and the Arkansas Teacher's Retirement Association.
