He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Black and Doris Black (Lockley). He is survived by: his wife Diane Chauncey; his children, Michelle (Andrew Kippenhan) of Norfolk and David (Tiffany (Tran)); his grandsons, Alex and Samuel of Virginia Beach; and his siblings, Gary Black (Marilyn) of Benton, Arkansas, Jim Black of Walnut Shade, Missouri and Lisa (Mickey Buck) of Arkadelphia. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, in-laws and out-laws and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation in Dave's memory.
