He was predeceased by : his significant other Nora Sue Mertens; and his siblings, Hugh Joseph Mertens (Buddy), Mary Ellen Lloyd and Dixie Bowers. He is survived by : his children, Tommy Mertens (Karen) and Jo Beth Mertens (Bill Page); his grandchildren, Dillion Mertens (Lauren) and Noah Page; and his brother Donnie Mertens (Linda). He is also survived by three nieces, one nephew and many cousins.
