He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Andrew and Ruby Golda Shadowens; his son Johnny Joe Shadowens, Jr. (Joe); and his brother Robert Wayne Shadowens (Buddy). He is survived by: his wife Edna Young Shadowens of Russellville, AR; his brother Lawrence Andrew Shadowens of Pleasant View, TN; his daughter-in-law Gina Sarcos Shadowens of Springdale, TN; his children, Larry Shadowens of Mt Juliet, TN and Theresa Smith; his grandchildren, Aaron (Ashton Smith), Megan (Will Strain), Kyle (Madison Shadowens) and Bethany (Rusty Brownfield); his great grandchildren, Landon, Shaun Smith, Lucy Jo, Ruby Strain, Kaisen Brownfield and Savannah Shadowens; Scott Smith of Russellville, AR.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cremation Center (9090 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville, TN 37221).
