He was predeceased by : his brother Danny Wainwright of Louisiana. He is survived by : his close friend Joan Becker; his son William "Burt" Wainwright; his grandchildren, Jess Wainwright TJ Wainwright (Courtney) of Colorado and Will Wainwright of Colorado; his daughter Dawn Wainwright McArthur (Charles) of Washington; his grandchildren, Carlie McFarlin of California, Caylee Spradlin (Andrew) of California and Grady Deal of California; and his son Adam Wainwright of Colorado. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
