He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell C. Johnson and Kathryn Bemcking; and his siblings, James, Carl, Jerold and Shirley.

He is survived by: his wife Jane Bowman; and his children, Jeffrey Bowman, Juliann and George Russell. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
