He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph David Shaw and Mildred Harris Shaw; and his siblings, Ed Shaw, Bob Shaw and Francis Payne.

He is survived by: his wife Laura Shaw; his children, Stephanie Lacey, Thad Shaw (Ginger), Craig Shaw, Lance Shaw (Carly) and Ryan Cole; and his sister Nancy Clark (Bob). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
