He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Leaver and Iris Leaver; his parents-in-law, Boyd Allinson and Mary Jane Allinson; his sisters, Pauline and Hazel; and his cousin Bernard Graham.

He is survived by: his wife Gay Leaver of Benton; his daughters, Allison Hall (David) of Morrilton and Chelsea Pacheco (Adrian) of Little Rock; his grandchildren, Olivia Hopper, Nora Hopper, Sam Hall, Lila Hall and Jillian Pacheco; his siblings, Gordon Leaver, Collin Leaver of Ipswich, England and Mandy Leaver of London, England; his cousin Christine Graham of London, England; and his brothers-in-law, Steve Allinson (Ginger) of Benton, AR and David Allinson (Paula) of Benton, AR. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers Derek requested a memorial be made to either the Shaw Volunteer Fire Department or the Habitat for Humanity Build Project.
