She was predeceased by: her parents, Everett Alvin McWhorter and Annie Alma McWhorter (Langford); her husband H. Caleb Mitchell, Jr.; and her siblings, Viola Layfield, James McWhorter, Juanita Graham and Gladys Hardin.
She is survived by: her children, Gary Fite (Dee), Lanny Fite (Sherri), Deborah Steele, Dianne St. Germaine and Suzanne Pennington; her stepdaughters, Margaret Alsobrook and Melody St. John; and her siblings, Imogene Graham, Jack McWhorter and Ann Pryor. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
