He was predeceased by: his parents, William Winsted Draper (Bill) and Josephine Evelyn Shelby Draper; his son Rell Winston Draper; and his siblings, Betty Lawrence and Billy Draper (Sonny).
He is survived by: his wife Gwen Dell Kilcrease Draper; his sons, James Edward Draper, Jr. (Eddie) of League City and Michael Draper of Benton, Arkansas; his siblings, Louise Davis of Bauxite, Linda Kelly (Benton) of Glen Rose and Ronny Draper (Marie) of Jeffersonville, Kentucky; and his aunt Ova Lee Shelby of Conway, Arkansas. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
