He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Barnett and Ruby Dougan Barnett; his brother Marion "Barney" Barnett; and his daughter-in-law Christy Carol Barnett. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Barnett; and his sons, Michael Barnett (Christy) and Wesley Bryan Barnett. He is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
