He was predeceased by: his parents, Buford Abernathy and Bessie Abernathy (Jackson); and his daughter Patty Abernathy. He is survived by: his wife Karen Abernathy; his children, Waylon Abernathy Jr. (Ramona), Sharon Abernathy Blevins, Angie Dischinger (Brian) and Hollie Marling (Michael); his grandchildren, Sarah Odle (Brian), Lindsay Harlan (Nick), Waylon Abernathy III (Tori), Elias, Alisa, Asher, Grayson, Tinley Marling, Taylor and Kaylie Dischinger; his great grandchildren, Madelyn, Amelia Odle, Hazel Grace, Walker Harlan, Wit and Sylvie; and his siblings, Alton Abernathy and Willa Mae Abernathy Hale. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
