Bob Benton wrote a sympathy message

“I first met Charlie Ferrill our freshman year at Ole Miss in 1957. We shared a lot of good times from sweating through two a day practices to celebrating historic wins as National Champions. Charlie, better known as Bear to his teammates, was kind hearted and loved all things Ole Miss. Charlie and I kept in touch through the years and I will definitely miss our talks about Ole Miss football. Deepest sympathy to the family. Bob Benton”

Jake Gibbs wrote a sympathy message

“My lifelong friendship with Charlie Ferrill began in the second grade at Lizzie Horn Elementary School in Grenada, Mississippi. Our friendship continued and grew stronger as we played on the Grenada High School football team under Coach Bob Ellard. We entered Ole Miss as freshmen in the autumn of 1957, rooming together for two years, and playing on the historic Ole Miss championship football teams under Coach Johnny Vaught. Charlie loved people, life, the game of golf and The Ink Spots. He played their music every night our sophomore year in Garland Hall — I finally had to ask him if he had any other records other than the Ink Spots. I loved Charlie. He was a prince of a man and I am going to miss him terribly. Jake Gibbs”
