He was predeceased by: his former wife Joyce Bumgarner; his parents, Willard Bumgarner and Myrtle Bumgarner; his sisters, Frieda Laymaster and Mildred Pope; and his sons-in-law, David Frost and David Finney.
He is survived by: his wife Glenda Bumgarner; his children, Carl David Bumgarner Jr. (Darlene) of Marietta, Michael Bumgarner of Booneville and Sonia Frost of Bakersfield, California; and his sister Wanita Clark of Ohio. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
