He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Louise Bates; and his siblings, Ivan Kiersey, Mary Elizabeth Moore Case and Jane Miller. He is survived by: his wife Arlina Powell; his sister Nancy Bates Morriss of Stockbridge, Georgia; and his children, Doug Powell (Amanda) of Magazine, Arkansas, Lawaynea Cox (Steven) of Booneville, Julie Reyna of Fort Smith and Jessica Hogan (Josh) of Booneville, Arkansas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Starting Point Church (1009 N, AR-109, Magazine, AR 72943). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at the Lick Creek Cemetery (9293-9329 AR-217, Booneville, AR 72927).
